CLOSED IN MONTREAL THE 23rd WORLD CONGRESS OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

Under the title Challenges of contemporary governance, the 23rd World Congress of Political Science has taken place in Montréal (Québec, Canada) between the 19th and the 24th July. The focus of this Congress was “to generate the greatest possible number of concrete, innovative answers to the questions of citizens, their political, associative and socio-economic representatives and the policy makers who are working constantly to improve the quality of governance”.

The principal fields covered by this Congress, organized by the International Political Science Association (IPSA), were international political economy, public policy analysis and administrative science, comparative politics and institutions and political attitudes and behaviour, among others.

This World Congress counted on the participation of the Institute for Advanced Social Studies. The scientists Thierry Desrues and Pau Alarcón defended their work in several panels.

Thierry Desrues presented his abstract Young North African Activists: What they Say about Their Commitment and the Arab Spring (co-authored with Ana Velasco Arranz), was the discussant of the panel Le rapport au politique des jeunes et la citoyenneté and the chair of the one called La jeunesse en tant qu’objet politique identifiable: mobilisations, participation et dispositifs de représentation politique des jeunes.

As far as Pau Alarcón is concerned, he presented his paper entitled Public Policies with and without Citizen Participation: Are there Differences?, of which Fabiola Mota and Carolina Galais are co-authors.
